It may be a job to find a great viewing point to watch the Ladbrokes Trophy – after their rankings have been taken by the owners of rival Cabaret Queen .
With almost all the Syndicates.Racing groups 69 members – who have the Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old – place to embark on the Berkshire track on Saturday, it will be standing room just as they attempt to catch a glimpse of their pride and pleasure in actions.
One member is Mairead Ni Cheoinin, who is coping with nerves before Cabaret Queen attempts to join a roster of honor featuring such greats like Arkle and Denman.
She explained:We thought shed give us a few fine days out, in which you meet with a wonderful group of folks in the parties, and I did not believe any more of this.
Therell be more than 60 members of this syndicate there. Some are currently flying in the daytime – and I believe there possibly three-quarters of an Aer Lingus plane landing at 8am in Heathrow!
The group consists of people from every walk of lifefrom postmen to agricultural workers, from throughout the planet. Therell be grannies, second cousins and third cousins once removed all cheering her as well. It will be like getting our own mini-Cheltenham there.
Picked up for #13,000 out of the Dan Skelton lawn in the Goffs horses in training sale at May, Cabaret Queen has already given the group a day to remember – operating out a fashionable winner of the months Munster National at Limerick on her next start for Mullins.
Cheoinin said:She was great at Limerick. At no stage did she return. Once she got along with ears and her straight back up and removed the fifth-last, that was superb.
I was envious of everyone in the syndicate that was there, since it turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon – we fearful a few of the punters at the bar we saw it in with the roars we were crying out at one point!
I am of a certain age where I have had to put up with people showing me photos of grandchildren and kids, but Ive gone across showing the movie of the final part of this Munster National and pictures of Cabaret Queen – so I have my revenge in this manner.
Cheoinin is just too pleased she took the recommendation of a friend and replied to the call of rushing manager Jack Cantillon although used to coping with horsepower of a kind in her maritime promoting role.
She explained:Im not from a racing background whatsoever – I would know more about boats than creatures. Was the Connemara ponies of my neighbour.
Once I showed a friend who purchases and sells horses exactly what Jack was doing, he said he was a good man and that it was the kind of item I would enjoy and receive access to, something I havent performed before.
It was a great opportunity to obtain a small step right into a horse racing and dip toe into the water so far its worked out nicely.
Having caught a glimpse of a number – including favorite OK Corral from the yard of Nicky Henderson – during a morning at Newbury, Cheoinin will be keeping her fingers crossed the buy purchase of Syndicate can deliver again.
Cheoinin explained:We just want her to have a race that she loves and be fit in the start and also the end – and Mr Mullins is happy with her performance.
It is a really big challenge, but if she approaches it did the Munster National she will write herself well.
Racing is all about daring to dream large, and Cheoinin hopes a performance from Cabaret Queen at Newbury might be the next step towards a possible outing at National Hunt racings holy grail – the Cheltenham Festival.
She added:Itd be the ultimate issue to conduct her in the Cheltenham Festival. It would be fine to run her into a race that satisfies her, although Im not saying it has to be the Gold Cup.
The Gold Cup is a frightening prospect, but when she can take action Mr Mullins is happy with her then why not?
