The course of 2019 of england lift the World Cup and can mimic the personalities of 2003, says defence coach John Mitchell.
England were knocked out at the group stage as hosts having exited from the quarter-finals at New Zealand in 2011.
„We can win it, most definitely. That is the exciting thing,“ explained Mitchell.
„We might have to remain focused and ensure we do not get distracted at any stage. We are going to require a little bit of luck and we’ll need to stay healthier.“
England start their campaign against Tonga in Sapporo following Sunday (11:15 BST) then meet the USA the next Thursday, before the stiffer tests of Argentina and France complete their group fittings.
„Some gamers might need to step up. You see that in other World Cups historically – they ask questions of players who likely didn’t anticipate they were going get as much playing time.,“ added Mitchell.
„But it’s amazing this tournament does in terms of bringing more out of players. You need to connect with your mates, so you need to trust your mates, nor fear making a mistake.“
If Eddie Jones‘ side top Group C that they could meet Wales or Australia from the quarter-finals, both of whom defeat in the group point in 2015.
However, hooker Jamie George is taking inspiration to raise the World Cup.
„I watched a movie the other day on social media of Martin Johnson following the 2003 final that people haven’t seen very far,“ George told BBC Radio 5 Live.
„It was an incredibly humble interview. He was talking about the back-room staff, the players who’d got them to this place.
„I just thought to myself:’What an amazing leader.‘ And , what an incredible position to be in.
„It got the juices flowing. It offers you goose-bumps just thinking about it.
„We’re finally in Japan and it’s almost slightly surreal. But you dream about such matters; you dream about World Cups.
„There is a real belief in the group that we can take action. We are also aware that it is going to take a great deal for us to get there. I confident we’re at a brilliant place.
„I don’t think many nations on earth can say they have obtained the depth we have.“
New Zealander Mitchell, who helped capture the USA through qualification with this tournament and coached the All Blacks to the semi-finals at 2003, believes this time will be begun by his charges again.
„New Zealand are world champions and they have had some current kind also,“ he said.
„They will prefer the requirements also because it will match their style of soccer – they like to move it about, they’re possibly the best catch-pass team in the contest so that I would offer them a fantastic opportunity.
„You have then got Ireland and Wales that have had really good success over the previous couple of decades. And I wouldn’t discount the Springboks – they look very powerful.“
